Podcasts are having a moment right now: with the runaway success of many series, it has been elevated to an art form. While there are plenty of other podcasts to ease your withdrawal from such series, if you’re in the mood for something a little more educational and risque, you can dig into a spate of women-run sex positive podcasts that are racy enough to make your ears blush.
Guys We Fucked: The Anti-Slut Shaming Podcast has been getting a lot of love lately. Stand-up comedians Corinne Fisher and Krystyna Hutchinson launched their no-holds-barred podcast about a year ago, where they feature special guests, discuss relevant news stories, and open up about their own sex and love lives. On each show the duo tackle fun topics like “do the kids still 69?” or delve into more existential questions like “do you have sex to fill a void”? What’s so charming about these New York City-based women is their ability to make fun of themselves (they are comics, after all) and how open they are about what they don’t know.
2. Sex Out Loud
O.G. Sex positive writer, educator, and feminist pornographer Tristan Taormino has been hosting Sex Out Loud since 2012. The show explores every angle of sexuality, from the philosophical and the political to the down and dirty. Her podcast is your one-stop-shop for discussions about kink, non-monogamy, anal sex, trans rights, orgy etiquette, queer porn and more. Taormino also features guests like Margaret Cho, Dan Savage, and Dr. Joycelyn Elders (the only official government supporter of masturbation ever!) to join in her frank and incisive discussions about sex.
Lunch With Legs is a podcast run by New York City burlesque diva Legs Malone, who invites sexperts, artists, drag queens, and performers of all kinds on her show to discuss their lives and loves and predilections. You can listen to burlesque dancers talk shop, learn about the ins and outs of polyamory from a practicing couple, or even hear a classic tale read in a sultry voice by a lovely lady. Malone also goes deep with discussions of racial politics, cultural appropriation, and spiritual healing in her many captivating episodes.
For those who need a little science with their sex, Sex Nerd Sandra “punches sexual shame in the face,” as host and sexuality educator Sandra Daugherty puts it. Her podcast has on everyone from porn stars to PhD’s who chat about important things like the function of female beauty in society or the biology behind your sex drive and the history of hookup culture. The podcast also explores taboo topics like golden showers or rope bondage that can enlighten and entertain even the most seasoned sexual explorers.
The Kinsey Confidential Podcast is your go-to for sexual Q&A’s. Hosted by Dr. Debby Herbenick, Associate Director of the Center for Sexual Health Promotion at Indiana University, each episode answers questions like “I am with a man, but had a dream with a woman, why?” or “After sex, I feel very sore. Why is this? Can I avoid this?” or “As a short man, am I expected to be submissive or ‘the girl?'” Herbenick responds to these questions with clear, practical advice and the facts to back it up.
